Privacy Policy

1. What this policy covers

This policy describes D2L Grade Hub, a Chrome extension maintained by Amocq. Its single purpose is to give students a centralized dashboard to view and track grades from their D2L Brightspace courses, including grade changes and grade/GPA estimates.

2. Information the extension accesses

When you connect a D2L Brightspace tab and choose to sync or scan, the extension accesses course and grade website content from that D2L site, including available Brightspace API responses. It processes only information needed for its grade dashboard:

• Course names and course IDs, the connected D2L site address, and course or Grades-page links.
• Grade-item names and reported values, such as points, percentages, weights, letter grades, and available overall grades.
• Your dashboard settings, including credit hours, grade cutoffs, course inclusion choices, and grade overrides you enter.
• Sync and scan timestamps, data sources, status/error information, and the most recently detected grade changes.

The extension does not collect D2L usernames or passwords. You sign in directly through your institution's D2L website. Read-only requests to the connected D2L site use your existing browser session; the browser may attach its existing session cookies, but the extension does not read or store those cookies or authentication tokens.

The extension does not collect general browsing history or use analytics or advertising trackers.

3. How information is used and shared

Course and grade information is used solely to provide the centralized grade dashboard, saved snapshots, change comparisons, and grade/GPA calculations. The extension does not upload this information to a developer-operated server or provide cloud synchronization.

D2L Grade Hub does not sell user data or transfer it to third parties outside approved use cases under the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. The current extension does not share saved course or grade data with third parties. Its network requests are limited to retrieving information from the D2L site you connect.

User data is not used or transferred for advertising, purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose, determining creditworthiness, or lending. The developer does not remotely access your locally saved grades.

4. Local storage and security

Course and grade snapshots and dashboard settings are stored locally on your device in your Chrome profile using Chrome's local extension storage. They are not synchronized through Chrome Sync. Requests to D2L use HTTPS and are restricted to the connected D2L site.

This local storage is not an encrypted vault or a backup service. Protect access to your device and browser profile. Use one student account per Chrome profile, and clear saved Grade Hub data before switching D2L accounts to avoid mixing snapshots.

5. Data retention and deletion

Saved information remains in the current Chrome profile until you clear it or uninstall the extension. There is no automatic time-based expiration. Later successful scans or syncs update saved snapshots; older information may remain when a sync fails or a course is no longer discovered.

• Clear saved data: open the dashboard, choose Clear saved Grade Hub data, and confirm. This clears the current installation's saved courses, grades, settings, and change information. Wait for any running sync to finish first.
• Remove the extension: uninstall D2L Grade Hub from Chrome to remove its local extension storage.
• Separate installations: clear or uninstall any separately installed older copies too; clearing this installation does not clear another copy's storage.

Closing the dashboard, disabling the extension, or signing out of D2L does not delete saved snapshots. Scanning or syncing again after clearing will save new data. These actions do not change or delete your institution's original D2L records. The developer has no server-side copy of your grades to retain or delete.

6. Browser permissions

activeTab provides temporary access to the D2L tab you choose. scripting runs the course and grade reader in that tab. storage saves the dashboard data locally between browser sessions. The extension does not request permanent access to all websites.

7. This policy website

This page is hosted on GitHub Pages and contains no analytics scripts, advertising, or forms. GitHub may process technical information associated with visits under the GitHub Privacy Statement. Visiting this page does not give it access to grades stored by the extension. Your institution and D2L apply their own policies to their services.

8. Questions and policy updates

For privacy questions, open an issue in the D2L Grade Hub repository. Issues are public: do not include grades, passwords, student identifiers, or other private information.

Updates to this policy will be published here with a revised date. Any future changes to data handling will be reflected in the policy.
